History
Like all good things, Troop 658 started small. Founded back in September 1975, we were originally chartered to Rolling Hills Covenant Church in Rolling Hills Estates. Since then we’ve grown and in our long history, have had the honor of having several competent leaders serving as our Scoutmasters:
Bruce Douglas Sept. 1975–Jun. 1978 (3 yrs)
Ed Mohr Jun. 1978–1987 (9 yrs; currently serving as our Scholarship Advisor)
Andy Todd 1988–Sept. 1992 (4 yrs)
Craig Whited Sept. 1992–Jan. 2017 (25 yrs; currently serving as our Committee Chair)
Jon Paulson Jan. 2017–2022 (5 years, currently serving as ASM - Eagle Scout Mentor)
Vince La Duca June 2022–present
Eventually we left RHCC in March 2014, and moved to St. John Fisher Church in Rancho Palos Verdes, where we are now chartered through SJF Church/Scout Parents, Inc.
Today our scouts continue to exemplify the ideals of Scouting …
In 2013, Troop 658 Eagle Scout Patrick Lowe was the winner of the National Eagle Scout Association’s STEM Scholarship. Along with the prestige of earning this national award, Patrick also received a $50,000 college scholarship to assist with his research at MIT.
